The National Payroll Clean-up Task Force hereby announces that beginning with the August 2020 pay period, it will place a stop-payment on the salaries of employees on the Central Government Payroll who have not submitted valid biometric National Identification Numbers (NIN), issued by the National Identification Registry (NIR).
This announcement is an important step in the enforcement of a key provision of the Wage Bill Control Regulation, which was endorsed by Cabinet on March 9, 2020, making the NIN a compulsory requirement for Government employees’ salary payments.
The Task Force will have teams at the Ministerial Complex in Monrovia and in the other fourteen counties, beginning August 3, 2020, to help all GoL employees who have not provided national ID numbers or need to register with the NIR to get their national ID numbers.
The stop-payment of salaries for non-compliant GoL employees is the first step of the payroll clean-up process, which will be followed by a nationwide headcount exercise headed by the Internal Audit Agency.
